The Best Fitness Programs For Airsoft

As stated in other articles on this website, airsoft is a very physical sport. It involves running, jumping, squatting, and walking. If you aren’t in good shape, you won’t be able to last very long on the airsoft field. If you play airsoft long enough, you will gradually build up endurance, but this takes far too long in my opinion. This is why I recommend starting a fitness regimen. It will improve your muscular endurance significantly, and will benefit your general health in many other ways. I have decided to lay out a list of what I think are the best fitness programs you can start today.

1. You Are Your Own Gym: The Bible Of Bodyweight Exercises

Airsoft is a sport in which you will be utilizing real life movements often. This means that bodyweight exercises are perfect for airsoft players. Bodyweight exercises help create strength and muscular endurance utilizing only your bodyweight. These type of exercises are perfect because they utilize multiple muscle groups at a time, and translate over to the real world perfectly.

You Are Your Own Gym is written by Mark Lauren. Mark Lauren enrolled in the military as a young man. He later became a navy seal. Nowadays, he has trained over 1,000 special forces members, while using bodyweight exercises. In his book, You Are Your Own Gym, he reveals all of his knowledge that you need to know to transform your body and increase your muscular endurance. I highly recommend this book to any airsoft player, as the workouts are easy to do wherever you are, and don’t require any special equipment. You can check it out here.

2. Convict Conditioning: How To Bust Free Of All Weakness Using The Lost Secrets Of Supreme Survival Strength

Convict Conditioning is another book that only uses bodyweight exercises. While the focus in You Are Your Own Gym is mainly on endurance and strength, Convict Conditioning focuses more on the strength aspect. The layout of the workout programs remind me of any typical strength program a powerlifter might use.

Nobody knows who the real author of the book is, since he goes under the pseudonym of Paul Wade to protect his identity. In the book, he claims to have served hard time at some of the roughest prisons in the world. During his stays at these prisons, he learned a lot about how to become supremely strong and dominant. I don’t know if this story is true or not, but the science involved in the training programs work well. Within a month of utilizing the exercises he teaches (in depth), you will definitely notice an improvement in your strength levels.

I recommend this book for any beginner to the fitness world. It will build a solid foundation of strength that will help you out greatly. Check it out here.

3. Simple And Sinister

Simple and Sinister is a book by Pavel Tsatsouline that is all about kettlebells. Kettlebells are great. They are capable of building explosive power and solid strength. Pavel is responsible for popularizing the use of kettlebells in the USA.

Just like the name of the book implies, the workouts are simple. You will only be doing two kettlebell exercises everyday, but when you do them right, you only need the two. The two exercises are the kettlebell swing, and the turkish get up.

Since the program only uses two exercises, it is great for beginners who don’t have a lot of time. If you don’t already have a kettlebell and have a tight budget that you only want to spend on airsoft, then this program is probably not right for you, as kettlebells are not cheap. If you don’t have a kettlebell, and don’t want to spend money on the different weights you can buy, I recommend that you buy an adjustable kettlebell handle and four 10 pound weight plates. This will set you back no more than $50. I highly recommend this program for beginners who want to use a simple program that delivers great results. You can get further details here.

4. 100 No Equipment Workouts Vol 1

Like the first two books on this list, 100 No Equipment Workouts is a bodyweight exercise book. And just like the title states, there are a 100 different workouts that you can do. This is great if you get bored of doing the same workout over and over and want variety in their life. Another reason this book is great is because you don’t need a gym. Many people just getting into fitness are scared of going to the gym and having everyone judge them. Luckily for them, all the workouts in this book can be done anywhere and at anytime.

Also in this book, the workouts are of varying difficulties. At the beginning of the book, the workouts will be easier and more suited for beginners. As the book progresses, the workouts get harder and harder, but they won’t seem harder if you slowly progress through the book. I recommend this book for any beginner who wants to increase their overall fitness and don’t want to invest in a lot of equipment or the gym. You can get your copy here.

5. Strength Training Anatomy

Strength training anatomy is great for those people who want to see a visual representation of what muscles they are working out, and don’t want any guesswork of how to do exercises. The book is split up into different sections by the different muscle groups. For example, there is a chapter about chest exercises, and there is a chapter about leg exercises.

This book walks you through every exercise you can think of, and explains them in a simple way, which is great. Also included in the book are simple training programs you can start using immediately.

If you don’t have access to equipment such as dumbbells and barbells, and don’t have a gym membership, this is probably not the right book for you. Pretty much all fo the exercises listed in the book require you to have equipment such as barbells and dumbbells. Check out further information here.

6. Yoga Fitness for Men: Build Strength, Improve Performance, and Increase Flexibility

Airsoft is a dynamic sport, and you will go through many motions while playing. Airsoft also requires that you be in uncomfortable positions. This is just a fact of the sport. Being in uncomfortable positions requires that you be very very flexible. If you are not very flexible, it WILL hurt your game. This is why I recommend taking up yoga. By doing yoga just a little bit everyday, you will eventually notice that you are becoming more and more flexible. The more flexible you become, the better you will play airsoft.

Yoga also teaches meditation techniques that are very beneficial to any airsoft player. Airsoft is a high action sport, and sometimes, you will notice yourself getting really wound up and anxious. Once you learn some simple meditation techniques, you will notice that you can calm yourself down and will be able to play better. Get your copy and start to be more flexible here.

Being in shape will not only improve your airsoft game, but it will also improve your general health. As you exercise and become healthier, you will notice that the quality of your life improves. I highly recommend that you check out one of the programs listed above. I have personally tried all of these programs and can testify that they all work wonders on your fitness levels. Did I miss any programs you think should be included? Let me know in the comments! I look forward to hearing from you. I try to respond to every comment. With that being said, get out there and start shooting some stuff!
